Entrance Fees/Deposits

  • Student teams per boat………………………………………………………………….$25
  • Adult teams(19 up) per boat.......……………………………………………………..$25
  • A deposit of $25 per boat required.  When all your boat materials are removed from Rolater Lake (the Pool) and Park, your deposit is returned.


Rules for Construction

  • Use plain corrugated cardboard only for the whole boat, no coated or waxed cardboard.  Cardboard blocks and tubes okay.
  • Do not use any toxic or two-part glues that will release into the water (carpenter’s glue okay).
  • Create open boats, no closed crew areas, leave open for safety.
  • Do not entirely wrap in duct tape, or any other waterproof, added material.
  • Use no metal, Styrofoam, plastic, fiberglass, or wood.
  • One-part waterproof paints allowed.


Other Rules

  • Crew members have to wear U. S. Coast Guard Approved life jackets.
  • Participants provide their own life jackets.
  • Single oars allowed, no kayak paddles.
  • All boat crews must sign the AHHAS Health and Release Forms.
  • Rain acceptable, unless deemed dangerous. Rain delays, but no rain date.
  • Boats may be built on site.  No cardboard or materials provided by AHHAS.  All remnants must be removed or you lose your deposit.​


​Boat Design

  • Think what it has to do and how to get it to the race area.
  • Keep the crew area open for safety.
  • Decorations should not be part of the structure or affect buoyancy of the boat.
  • Use your imagination for overall look and/or costumes. Plan for safety! Have no face coverings.
  • Remember that everything has to come out of the water at the end!
